Why Most Partner Marketing Ventures Fall And How You Can Avoid The Same Mistakes: Part Two
Right, going on from my last feature, you have set up your affiliate marketing shop, enrolled in for stacks of associate plans, selected the links of websites whose products fall into your niche area and put them on your webpage’s. You have chosen the keywords for your shop, put them into the header that illustrates your site, what it does and what it offers. Those are the initial 3 steps of SEO achieved and you are ready for the serious one, the off site promotion.
To that end, as we left it last time, you’ve endured the dull task of getting your site entered onto hundreds of internet business directories. At least you only need to do it once. But they will only be of interest to the search engines for a relatively short time, though they will still use them but what Google, Yahoo and the rest really love is to uncover up to date links in different places and that means keeping links fresh. To achieve this you can utilise social networks for SEO use. First, create an account with Twitter using your site name as full name and Twitter name, or something approximate if they have been taken. For instance, my affiliate marketing website is internetfishingshop.com so I have a twitter name of ‘@internetfishing’ and full name ‘Internetfishing Shop’. Look for shops (I just searched on ‘fishing’ which provided plenty) that fall into your niche marketplace and follow them, and some will follow you back. And then, at least once a day, tweet a message which includes a link to your page. Something akin to “Get the greatest XXX products in the world at http:// your site address here” (ensure you include the http://) and that will put a link which the robots will pick up and make a note that it’s up to date and when they follow it to find your site which will note that it is still current.
Also, create a Facebook page for your site, and use the Twitter app to connect to it so that it also repeats the Twitter messages and links as well.
Now, as your site is in the business of affiliate marketing, you want some interested shoppers to go to it, so join some forums that match with your niche marketplace. Join in some of the chat so that your username gets known. And then, after a while slip in a message that you something really great from going to your site and insert a link. Also, investigate Usenet, though these are falling from favour but still, write a message with your link in and post it in lots of newsgroups. Someone may see it, follow it, like it, bookmark it and be a frequent visitor. All of this is good, effective SEO and will target search engine robots and potential customers equally. But it will not promote you far up the search engine rankings.
The next element of search engine optimisation which is going to make the largest result in lifting your affiliate marketing website up the search engine results table is, of course the hardest and most labour intensive part of search engine optimisation. It is also the most controversial which is why it is going to take the whole of the 3rd item of this little series of monograms all by itself, but it is the most effective and, if you want your site discovered by loads of shoppers, it’s the one you need to work to do right.
