In a nutshell pages will appear in a Google search result because their content matches the search and they have links to them from other pages indicating their importance. In simple terms SEO involves writing pages that use keywords, words people use in a search and securing links from other pages to show how important your page is compared to others. Links are votes and these votes get you elected to page 1.

SEO can be defined as a skill used in optimizing web pages or sites in order to make them rank higher in the Google search engine. The main function of the SEO is to increase more traffic to a site and therefore make the site be prominent and get noticed. The higher ranking your site is, the more views it is probable to gain. Most people view the sites that rank top of the Google search first.

You can of course be included in paid search results but the initiative behind SEO is to acquire a top placement because your site is relevant to a particular search term. The whole idea behind the SEO is to make a website work better with search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.

So what is the secret behind the SEO? The reality is nobody fully knows the SEO background as its secret is kept fully guarded.
