Listing Of Reality Shows On TV That Don’t Suck

Let’s be realistic, Reality TV is generally terrible. MTV must replace its name because it really doesn’t present music videos anymore but instead includes a long listing of extremely bad reality programs like “Tool Academy”, “Bad Girl’s Club” and “From G’s to Gents” (which I in fact like but still know that it is terrible). Some of these bad programs are like watching a train break. It’s very difficult at times to switch the channels. Other shows are so undesirable that they’re less difficult to stay away from like “The Karadashians” or “Real Housewives of Orange County” or “Jersey Shore”. A few programs aren’t even worthy of mentioning like “The Surrreal World” and “I Love New York”.

But a number of reality TV remains to be convincing and the following titles are on my listing of reality shows on tv that don’t suck.

Among the best reality programs ever continues to be “Survivor”. No matter where they dump off these people we’re fascinated to see as they live off of rice and fish (or at times bats and rats like James did with relish) for 30 days straight. The infighting is still real juicy and even after many years the show still ranks high on the list of reality Series on the networks. When they head to tribal council and an individual gets blindsided, you realize that the trick is actually how the producers decide to manage the tv show. But as Eisenstein showed us several decades in the past, every single movie or Tv show is created from entire cloth in the editing room.

One more in my short listing of reality shows on tv that do not totally suck is the fantastic and long running “American Idol”, which is arguably the very best of the bunch. This is actually an amazing feat simply because basically all it really is is a talent show with a lot of production value and better participants for the most part. The very best part of the television show each season is the very beginning when people fall into line for countless hours to be listened to by the panel. These “audition” shows are excellent because you get to listen to the undesirable and funniest singing in the world. Individuals are amusing and it’s simply because they’re absolutely deluded. This is the place where you will see just how outrageous most people is and believe me, it is terrifying. But, like undesirable karaoke, you can’t turn away from it or change the channel. As soon as they get very well into the show it normally becomes more uninteresting, but the beginning is golden.

Although reality TV had been around in one form or another for many years, it truly received momentum during the writer’s strike in the mid 1990s. The producers had to fill up air time and that gave all of us several really good programs, and a bunch more that were terrible beyond words. Let us just wish that the writers stay on for a short while longer. However, I would prefer to watch “Tila Tequila” than “CSI: Miami” any day of the week.
