Being My Own Boss Means That I Can Have A Better Chance Of Helping My Clients

I was feeling a bit green yesterday. Not quite the complete ticket, a little unbalanced in the noggin as it were. So in the pm I returned to my bed and caught up with some sleep for a couple of hours. Once I woke up I was lots better, fresh and revived and went back to work. Which was all easy to do as I operate at home and for myself so I gave myself leave, continued with work supplying superior SEO and IT support services to firms in and around the Black Country.

It’s an absolute advantage that the home-worker has. If I was working in an office somewhere I’d have either had to do my best to battle my way through the day feeling lousy and very likely gradually getting worse, or choose to thrown in the day, make my apologies and go home without the likelihood of returning and continuing where I left off. Plus I’d have the irritation of having to complete forms, possibly have to suffer a ‘back to work talk’ as I really have to have my intelligence insulted as a punishment for feeling under the weather. But, in doing SEO work I can just save my work, take refuge under the duvet, grab a quality sleep and when I woke up again, cross the landing to the study and carry on.

It would not have been so if I’d been on an IT support call of course, although the choice would have been to complete the call I was on and then either decide to put off any outstanding appointments or pause for a breath of air or a sleep in the car before soldiering on. It would also depend on whereabouts in the Black Country I was of course, if I was near to home I could always scurry back for my nap and let coming appointments know that I was going to be delayed, though of course if there was a proper emergency situation somewhere then of course I would have to be really poorly to let them down.

It is of course the eternal conundrum of the contractor. No work, no pay and if you let clients down then they will always have the option to find someone else that they may consider to be more reliable, that’s essential business sense.

So, whether being employed to boost a website with SEO, or keeping their systems and hardware going by giving IT support, feeling poorly doesn’t need to stop me supporting my customers’ business, which being office bound probably would, which is for the best.
